What the heck is mediation?
As a family mediator, I provide safe space for a couple to engage in productive conversation. Sometimes it’s about a challenge you’re facing as a couple. Sometimes it’s to get on the same page so you can set clear goals. Sometimes it’s to learn how to fight fairly. As your mediator, it’s my job to listen without judgment and help you communicate and understand your own needs, your spouse’s or coparent’s needs, and the needs of your children. That understanding makes way for thoughtful agreements that can be used as a map for your beautiful family’s future.
Pillars of Mediation
Mediators follow these rules:
We are neutral and impartial. We don’t take sides, give advice, or make judgements.
We are all here voluntarily. As are you!
The process is confidential. This is an informal conversation. What happens in mediation, stays in mediation.
Parties must have informed consent to make an educated decision.
Self-determination is key to mediation. We cannot make decisions for you! The best decision you can make is the one you design yourself!
